The Maritime LNG Platform at the World Ports Conference in Hamburg: Introducing Becker Marine Systems as a First Mover in Hamburg and Northern Germany

With the 29th World Ports Conference (IAPH) taking place in Hamburg between 1st and 5th June 2015, the Maritime LNG Platform has used this formidable opportunity to introduce the Hybrid Barge of Becker Marine Systems (Hamburg), a platform member, to representatives from ports worldwide.

To this end, the Platform’s Managing Director, Georg Ehrmann, took part in an event on 4th June 2015, organised by the European Commission’s DG MOVE and PriceWaterhouseCoopers, that presented the preliminary results of a study on the perception of the risks and opportunities of LNG as a shipping fuel as well as the existing gaps in the regulatory framework for LNG-fuelled shops and the provision of LNG fuel. In a joint presentation with Max Kommorowski, Director LNG Hybrid, Becker Marine Systems (Hamburg), he did not only introduce the Platform and its activities but also the Hybrid Barge and highlighted the Becker Marine System’s outstanding role as a first mover for Hamburg and Northern Germany. Mr Kommorowski then went on to introduce the Hybrid Barge in more detail. Other speakers included Patrick Norroy (DG MOVE, European Commission), Dr. Axel von Perfall (PricewaterhouseCoopers), and Günter Eiermann (Bomin Linde).
